(NAN) – The Police in Kenya said Tuesday said they were battling to contain a new trend of commercial sex tourism that targets young boys in the coastal towns of the country .

The reports monitored from a local radio station, quoted Police as saying the trend had caused the rise in the sale pampers in the region due to the rising health problems among boys indulging in the act.

Malindi sub county Deputy Police Commissioner, Joshua Nkanatha told Kenya local radio that boys from poor families were being lured into the trade by rich male tourists.

The Police official said the situation had lead to an increase in number of cases of HIV/AIDS spread in the area.

Nigerian Couple Jailed In The Uk For 7 Years Over Child Abuse Allegations

I have personally met this woman and she is seriously protesting her innocence. Child protection is a delicate issue which should not be taken lightly. Following what can be described as one of the most publicized court cases involving a Nigerian couple in the UK on charges of child abuse, Nigerian parents, Joseph and Gloria Musa have each been sentenced to seven years in jail.

Their ordeal gained media frenzy since April 2010 when their five children were taken away from their custody on grounds of child abuse. They were accused of claiming that their six children were posessed by evil spirits and beating them with brooms, hoovers and wires. They were also accused of giving their baby a morphine overdose just days after her first birthday.

According to Telegraph, the children were taken away from their parents after their nine year-old daughter threw a heart-wrenching SOS note out of a window in April 2010. The reported content of the note read:

Zimbabwe Court Rules That Robert Mugabe Won 'Free and Fair'

Zimbabwe's highest court on Tuesday threw out a legal challenge that alleged the July 31 elections won by President Robert Mugabe were marred by fraud.
Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku, head of the constitutional Court, dismissed the challenge from Zimbabwe's main opposition party and said the court found that the elections had been free and fair.
The ruling clears the way for Mugabe's inauguration on Thursday.
Mugabe, who has been in power since 1980, appoints the nation's judges and they have frequently ruled in his favour in the past decade of political and economic turmoil.

Osun Declares Public Holiday For Traditional Religion Worshippers

Just days after traditional religion worshippers in Osun State demanded a two-day public holiday from the state government to commemorate this year’s Isese Day, the state government has declared Tuesday a public holiday in commemoration of the World Traditional Religion, Isese Day.

In a press statement released on Monday by the state’s commissioner for Information and Strategy, Sunday Akere, the state government declared the public holiday in the spirit of equality among the various religious groups in the state.

A Female Police Officer Of The Nigerian Police Force Caught On Camera Extorting Money From A Lagos Bus Driver

I know these sort of things are horrible and I'm happy that these record and shame tactics will help stop or at least reduce extortion within the Nigerian police force. The officer refused to get off the bus until she was given a N100. N100........ Doesn't that mean something? They are obviously not getting paid enough. There's a bigger picture to this. Look at how hungry the police officer looks.

Apple Set To Launch Two New iPhone Versions Soon

(AFP) – Apple has asked its Taiwan-based supplier to begin shipping two new versions of the iPhone next month, including a lower-cost model, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

The Journal, citing unnamed sources, said Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision, the parent company of Foxconn in China, was readying both a standard iPhone with new upgrades and a less expensive model with fewer features.

ASUU Strike Continues As FG, Lecturers Fail To Reach Agreement Once Again

The Monday meeting between striking university lecturers and the federal government ended without a resolution of the crisis.

The meeting, which held at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, was attended by the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Minister of Labour, Emeka Nwogwu; Minister of Education, Rukayyatu Rufai; and the Benue State Governor and head of the government’s delegation, Gabriel Suswam.

The lecturers’ union, ASUU, was led by the President of the union, Nasiru Fagge.
