President Goodluck Jonathan, Thursday, asked Nigerians to collaborate and strive to move the nation forward, saying Nigeria will make tremendous progress and experience peace when good Christians resolved to show the light in all their activities.
Jonathan who spoke in Nsukka during the episcopal ordination and installation of Most Rev. Monsignor Godfrey Igwebuike Onah as the Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, said time had come for good Christians in the country to rise up and show good examples as true believer in order to correct the ills in the society.
The president, who was represented by Senator Ben Obi, his Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs, urged members of the diocese to give necessary support to the new Bishop to enable him advance the work of God in the diocese.He charged Nigerians to always pray for peace in the country, saying that the nation would make progress when the citizenry dwell in peace and harmony.
At the colourful ceremony, His Eminence, Cardinal John Onaiyekan was assisted in the consecration of the new Bishop by Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke, metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha, and the Bishop Emeritus of Nsukka Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Francis Emmanuel Okobo.
Dignitaries at the event were Senate President, David Mark, Governors Peter Obi and Rochas Okorocha of Anambra and Imo States, respectively, among others.
