Photos: Patience Jonathan Returns From Geneva To Mourn Late Mother

Patience Jonathan, wife of Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has returned home from a three-day trip to Geneva to mourn her late mother, Charity Oba.

Mrs Jonathan, who returned to Abuja on Wednesday, was in Geneva to receive an award as the Online Child Protection Champion from the International Telecommunication Union.She lost her foster mother, fondly called Mama Sisi in an auto crash in Port Harcourt on Monday.

President Goodluck Jonathan was joined by former military Head of State, Retired Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, Anthony Anenih, to receive his wife.

The bereaved arrived into the warm embrace of her husband at the Presidential Villa, Abuja at exactly 9.40pm.

Other dignitaries who joined the president to receive his wife were his mother, Eunice, wife of Bayelsa governor, the ministers of transport, aviation, power, science and technology and culture and tourism.

The Minister of Power, Chinedu Nebo, later led the gathering in a prayer session for the repose of the deceased’s soul, while Anenih gave the closing remarks.

As the dignitaries left the Villa, some others, led by governor Peter Obi of Anambra arrived to console Mrs Jonathan.
