Tribal Profiling? Residents Panic As An Angry Mob Attempted To Burn Down A Church

A Hausa-speaking Muslim man in the Nyana area of Abuja was prevented from parking his car too close to a church because he fitted into a certain criteria. Is it really that easy to determine who a person is or his intentions just by looking at him? In the UK, the border force have decided to use racial profiling to deal with immigration, basically looking at the colour of your skin in certain areas to decide whether to suspect you of being an illegal immigrant. If that was possible then the Boston bombings could have been prevented, suicide bombers would have been stopped and every terrorist attack would be unsuccessful.

A joint effort by the Nigerian army and police earlier today prevented the attempted burning of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nyanya area of the federal capital territory in Abuja .

Sources at the church told SaharaReporters that trouble started when a Hausa-speaking Muslim man in the area was prevented from parking his car too close to the church building.

What Nigerians Go Through To Obtain Foreign Visa

The search for greener pastures in foreign countries is not an easy one, many Nigerians have passed through unpleasant experinces in search of visas to travel to either the United Kingdom or America. Blessing Ukemena and Kehinde Ajobiewe writes;

The desire to go abroad is quite high among Nigerians. It is looked on as a thing of pride to be able to go to other counties of the world especially the United States and the United Kingdom. Reasons for going abroad vary from holiday purposes, to educational, career or even medical purposes. Each year foreign embassies are flooded with visa applications to travel, many of which are turned down but this rejection does not deter Nigerians. Many of them go through very unpleasant experiences just to go abroad, some have even been known to travel by land through many countries just to get out of the country. There are however, a few lucky ones who get their visas easily.

U.S Issue Global Travel Alert, Shuts Down Embassies In Muslim Countries

The United States issued an extraordinary global travel warning to Americans Friday about the threat of an al-Qaeda attack and closed down 21 embassies and consulates across the Muslim world for the weekend.

The alert was the first of its kind since an announcement preceding the tenth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. This one comes with the scars still fresh from last year’s deadly Sept. 11 attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, and with the Obama administration and Congress determined to prevent any similar breach of an American Embassy or consulate.

The statement said that al Qaeda or its allies might target either U.S. government or private American interests. The alert expires on Aug. 31.

UK, Germany close embassies in Yemen over possible terror threat

The British and German embassies in Yemen will be closed for two days over 'increased security concerns', the European countries have announced. Both blame an 'increased threat' from al-Qaeda.

The British embassy in Yemen will close temporarily after escalating violence and terrorist threats, the Foreign Office said Friday. While the Embassy will operate with an “essential staff,” all other British citizens were advised to leave Yemen.

Germany also warned its citizens from traveling to the country and that the situation there "is uncertain in the future".

The British announced the precautionary measures after the United States issued a worldwide travel alert, citing the intelligence indicating al-Qaeda terrorists may be planning attack somewhere in the Middle East or Africa.

“There is a high threat from terrorism throughout Yemen,” the Foreign Office said in a statement. “[We] advise against all travel to Yemen and strongly urge British nationals to leave now.”

According to Ghanamma.com, multiple reports claim the actress, who was unaware of security camera at a London store, allegedly picked a bracelet worth £10, without paying for it and as she was exiting the store, an alarm beeped, alerting the storekeepers of the theft. Emelia was held down for questioning until the officers from the Enfield Police Department arrived to make the arrest.

Emelia had been in the UK for months on holiday and to deliver her new baby boy, which she did on June 13, 2013. What the new mother did not bargain for was getting involved in a pilfering scandal.

She said, “A bracelet accidentally fell into my baby carriage without my knowing it until the alarm beeped when I was about leaving the shop. I explained to the security and even paid for it when the shop attendant asked if I wanted to keep the bracelet, only to be pursued later by the police.”
