Oprah Winfrey A 'Victim Of Racism' In Switzerland

The last person you would expect to be subjected to an act of racism was: Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah, one of the richest women in the world, was in Zurich, Switzerland, when an assistant at an upscale handbag shop told her the purse she was looking at (worth over $35,000) was “too expensive” for her.

The pretty woman, Julia Roberts thing.

According to Forbes, Oprah earned $77-million last year.

'I go into a store and I say to the woman, 'Excuse me, could I see the bag right above your head?' and she says to me, 'No. It's too expensive.''

The saleswoman went on to suggest she look at cheaper bags. 'I left the store but it proves that racism is still an issue,' Oprah added.

'There's two different ways to handle it. I could've had the whole blow-up thing... but racism still exists, of course it does.'

"You'll find here very friendly people," Zurich Tourism representative,Trottmann told CBSNews.com. "We are, I would say, quite an open-minded city. We are used to having people from all nations and all cultures."
