Angelina Jolie has opened a girls school in Afghanistan. The 37-year-old UNHCR Goodwill ambassador picked the area due to its high refugee population, and because it is a region that normally favors male education over female education. The school is already educating between 200 and 300 females and has had a major positive impact on the area.
This project is been funded by her jewelry line which she hopes will be successful and will led o the opening of more schools. The line will go on sale this week and all proceeds will go towards her new initiative, The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict.
She said "Beyond enjoying the artistic satisfaction of designing these jewels, we are inspired by knowing our work is also serving the mutual goal of providing for children in need"
